Mixing a MOTU 2408 & 2408mkII

I have a MOTU 2408 and I would like to expand to 16 tracks. The 2408 is 20bit and I would like to buy a 2408mkII to get 24bit. If I run the both together (say for an elaborate drum setup) will the mkII drop down to 20bit (the lowest common denominator) or will I have 8 tracks of 24bit and 8 of 20bit. Using CEP2.1.

You'd have 8 at 24 and 8 at 20. Don't forget the digital ins and outs (ADAT and T/DIF). If you stumble up on something that could patch in there to add channels.
