Where can i listen to "professional" mixes WITHOUT a master on the song? i want to train my ear! If you have tracks that are mixed but unmastered i would love to hear it!
typing this up brings up another question, would you call a track "unmastered"? "not masterd yet"? lol
"Unmastered" would suggest that they already were, and that you were undoing the mastering...so the better term is "not mastered".
You're not going to find a lot of pro/commercial mixes to listen to without mastering...so it's only on forums like this where you can ask guys to post up their mixes without any mastering step.
I would think a lot of the stuff in the MP3 Clinic would be before mastering.
Also....you would really want both....before and after mastering, if you are looking to compare.
On the other hand a term like "unconquered" means never conquered, so maybe the term demastered is more suitable than unmastered if we mean mastered, but later returned to its premastered state. But the whole concept is sort of like demasterbation, which would be like trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube... and almost never happens.
