Hi all,
I have an old Peavey XR 600 mixer amp which has 6 channels in and a tape out function that goes into my sound card.

I did my first recording into VST 24 today and could playback the tracks and could hear my voice and the arrangment suprisingly well.

Are there any reasons to dump the old Peavey (I assume it must be adding some noise and definatley EQ colorations) and what would be a good working replacement.

Lastly, I own an RP 2000 Digitech guitar modeller..... could that be used as a pre amp (which I beleive it is) for guitars...... and at a push could you run a voice through it and only use some Reverb etc etc.

Failing that, I have a Midiverb II which seems to be an OK vocal effects unit.

I know this could be a laughable suggestion but I need a good laugh.

Regards Alan

If you think the mixer is creating noise and its old and sloppy...get a new one:D
I have used a guitar proc. for vocal effects before...use what you got..the goal is creativity right ?

Hi Stealthtech

The Peavey XR 600 is actually a PA mixer amp that I have gigged with many years..... I dont know if its adding EQ but as all the channel imputs have a three band EQ , it must be shaping the sound to some degree.

If I listen to he sound coming out the sound card whilst moving the channel EQ faders on the XR 600... I hear the tone changing in sync, proving it is coloring the sound somewhat.

Next week I might start seriously trying to get better with what I have... then learn as I go.

Regards Alan
