mixer ?

Hey I can get a mixer for cheap from a friend.
I only record rap, make some beats.
I learned to get around using a mixer relying on software to eq everything.
So im not realy sure how it will benefit me.
Hardware has to work better then software.
But is there realy a big difference?
Its something I can get for probaly 30 bucks but im not sure how much use I can get out of it. I dont think the pres will be to much better then what im using.

Generally a dedicated preamp will sound better than the pre's in a mixer. The statement "Hardware has to work better then software." is no longer a hardfast rule but still can be true, or not. If you want an opinion on specific equipment then you need to post what you're comparing.

I have to talk to my buddy.
I didnt ask him what brand it was.
My first reaction was I didnt realy need it.
Its probaly around the $100 range maybe 8 channels.
