Hello all! This is my very first post! I have a problem. Actually, it's not really a problem; more of a challange. See, I'm new to the recording scene. I have basic knowledge on recording software, and I can mainly find my way around a piece of software. But where I'm confused is in the realm of hardware.

This is what I need to do: Connect my mixer to my computer.

Now, my mixer does not go from USB to computer so I did some research and found that you must connect the mixer via USB interface and then to the computer. This is what I'm trying to do.

Here is my mixer: a Behringer XENYX 1002B.

Now, from what I was told by various internet sites, I must use an RCA to 1/4 to connect the mixer to the USB interface. I have the cables right here:

And lastly, here is my USB audio interface: a Lexicon Alpha (sorry about the sideways picture):

Note: I am aware that this can record without a mixer, but I'd still like to use the mixer!

Now that you see what I'm working with, I'll you what I heard. I am told that in order to get this shebang working, I must connect the 1/4 to the mixer's main output and the RCA to the USB interface's Line Out. Correct? After that, I simply plug the USB cable from the back of the interface into my iMac. Can someone confirm that I'm doing this correctly? You can see, clear as day, the inputs and what not on what I'm working with.

Anyway, much help would be GREAT! I am using Logic Express 9 software. Under Preferences/Audio, I can change it from onboard audio to my Lexicon, however, I can't hear anything being recorded and what not. If anybody could help, thank you.

No, you connect the mixers main output to the input of your interface. Output on the interface goes to monitors.

Oh, I understand. So, I will plug 1/4 cables from the main output of the mixer into the interface, and then the USB from interface into computer, correct?

Oh. My. God. You are correct, sir. Literally the ONLY thing that I didn't try, worked. Now, the only way I hear myself recording is thru headphones and then when I play it back. Is there a way I can here the "clicks" for tempo in Logic Express 9?

On my interface I have a monitor knob. All the way left is input and right is computer. So if you have it inbetween you should be able to hear sounds coming from your DAW and your instrument. Assuming you have that control function on your interface.
