Hi all! I have a little 6 channel Behringer mixer, assortment of mics, and all the necessary evils to record with. Anyway, I read a post from a few days ago that someone was given advice that it would be better to connect the channel inserts of the mixer to the souncard instead of the tape out of the mixer to the soundcard. Well, I checked my mixer, and I don't have anything that is labeled 'channel inserts' on my mixer. (Yeah...I'm new to recording...only used to play out live!) Anyway, I got thinking about something on the same lines.....instead of using an rca-to-1/8" adapter, and going from the tape out of the mixer to the sound card, would I get a better/cleaner signal by getting a 1/4"-to-1/8" adapter, and connecting either the 'control room out' or the 'main out' of the mixer to the sound card? Are there any quality advantages of using either of these verses the tape out? I'm really only using the mixer as a 1 channel preamp for my mics (vocals, guitars), so I really won't need the mixer to serve any mixing function for me. I'm planning on doing that in my recording software. Thanx a bunch!
