Need a little help setting up the home studio. I just picked up a pair of Tannoy Proto-J monitors, and I have a little Behringer 6 channel mixer. I'm guessing I need to go out through the mixer into an amplifier, then into the Proto-J's. Does anyone have any suggestions on a) my asumptions - is there a better way to do this, and b) amplifier recommendations?

TIA,

Your assumptions are correct. I would recommend you look into one of the less expensive Hafler amps, or something like an Alesis RA-100. There are tons of other options, but these are a bit more budget conscious and will give you satisfactory results. If money is a real problem you could start off with an inexpensive home stereo receiver and upgrade at a later point, but you need to be aware that a home stereo will color what you hear so it is not as accurate as using a studio amp.
