I just bought a Behringer ECM8000 mic and a Behringer UB1002 mixer
(please no comments for Behringer. It was just the cheapest solution-I record only for hobby)

I record only acoustic guitar from ECM8000->UB1002->LineIn (onboard card).

In order to record, I have to adjuct the following:
1. Gain (mixer)
2. Level (mixer)
3. Main Mix (mixer)
4. Line In Volume (sound card)

What is the recommended adjustments?
I have tried various combinations, but I wonder if there is any "rule" or
"recommended adjustment"

...and another question: Why Line In has volume control? I thought it has not a preamp builtin

Thanks
george

Set your level and Main faders flat (0db) and adjust the preamp gain to get a good level. Most preamps have an optimum level where they sound best, generally somewhere between 9 oclock & 3 oclock.

Don't know about your line in volume though. Probably somewhere around the middle
