Mixer or Recording interface for drum covers?

i was wondering what would be the best way to record my drums for drum covers. what would be better a mixer or recording interface?
i want to be able to do these things either way: -Be able to listen to my drums and my ipod and record them whilst playing them.
-Be able to handel and edit each mic on the computer sepeately (eg. eq the snare, seperately from all the other drums)
-Have atleast 7 XLR inputs and and input for my ipod
does anyone recomend anything?, thanks

Tascam US 1800 all the way.

I mix drums for this guy, doing the same thing you want to do.

cheers man this looks perfect for what i want, but is there anything like that for a little bit less, cause i need money for other things like mics etc so i dont wanna spend too much

Naw, you can't beat that for the price. You could look for a used 1800 or the US 1641, which is basically the same thing.
