mixer/heating concern

I just picked up my first mixer - a Behringer MX802A - and have a question regarding the unit's heating. The manual states that it is normal for the power supply, and desk area, to become warm during operation. But the underside of my unit gets really hot. So hot, in fact, that I cannot keep my fingers in that spot for more than five seconds. Now, it isn't very often that I will be handling the mixer in that manner. But - if it IS excessive heat - my concern is over the trouble that it would spell for my machine. Is it normal for a mixer to get this hot? Your responses would be appreciated.

Nathan.

Yeah

Thats normal for a Behringer
my 1602a does the same

Just don't set it on your Moms coffee table with out a pot holder under it.

Thanks guys,

It's good to know that I am not skirting disaster with this matter. Much appreciative.

Peace, Nathan.

i have an mx2462A and that gets relatively hot ... I use to have a few 4 channel behringers , they werent too bad (cool i mean) so i just thought its cos this is a bigger mixer....i think its normal anyway , if u ever see inside one you understand why it gets hot....

the reason they get hot especially in australia and other countries besides the u.s is becuase of the voltage/power differences, and all behringer did to compensate this is placed in the power circuit a capacitor or transistor (i can't remember) which is not very good becuase that's what makes the desk get so hot, my mx1604a isn't too bad but it does get quite warm if i leave it on over long periods of time that's why i have a cooling fan placed in mine.

also one of my friends bot a blister after being burnt from his behringer desk. Anyway they're still good desks, bang per buck give me a behringer anyday.

Thanks - Mr. Engineer.
Your input has, also, been greatly appreciated. I had emailed Behringer on this concern, before posting the query on this forum, and they just recently responded. They also stand on the grounds that this degree of heating is par for the course, with their mixers, and advised against the installation of a cooling fan (something about the "noise" that it may create). But I am going to check into having one installed. I have never owned a mixer before, but - despite Behringer's claim of normalcy - I just don't feel that this heat, over time, can be good for my machine.

BTW, Mr. Engineer,

Was your cooling fan installed by a Tech, or did you perform the procedure yourself? If the former is the case, would you mind sharing with me what such an installation would cost?

i agree with mr engineer, there great mixers ... even if the money u save on one has to be spent on trips to the burns unit , so what !!!!
hey mr engineer , i would be interested about that fan u installed ..?? u think an external fan would do much ?? and one more thing ...do u have any noise problems??
