I just got my mixer a behringer ub1202 it has four mono tracks and four stereo....i want to record in stereo (specifically my guitar)....so i mic my amp with two mics i know but then do i go each into a seperate mono track of the mixer and pan them left and right....or do out both mic lines into the two seperate stereo channel inputs.....this has always confused me and i read a bunch of other threads and i wasnt sure if it was talking about the same thing....so if you could answer this thank you.

Plug your mics into 2 of the mono channels, and pan one hard left, the other hard right. The main output will have one mic on the left channel and the other on the right

Maybe im being stupid...but what does that have to do with it?... my(separate) preamp output is 1/4 in.

Are you going into a two channel recording interface (soundcard)? If so you can stereo out of the mixer to the soundcard. If your software can do it, then record each one as two independent tracks. If you're limited to recording one mono or one stereo track then you'll be stuck with the relative volume but you should be able to pan them independently.
