HEY GUYS,

I've been battling a problem with my mixer.

Channels and busses keep cutting in and out.

I've tried to clean the console with Radio Snack cleaner, but
only slight improvement.

Any Suggestions ?

First off - don't use Radio Shack chemicals of any kind - complete and total garbage... get yourself the CAIG stuff, or Cramolin.

Second - if the CAIG stuff won't do it, it could be the pots/faders themselves that need replacing... (they do wear!)

Pop the top and check the ribbons from the channels where they plug into the sub and master bus. Sound like they might be loose.

I got some radio shack head cleaner :) How else do you justify having to buy an HD24?

Yeah, sounds to me like the typical ribbon/connector problem of most used consoles... Usually the first things to go out on consoles. And in my experience, usually the first indication of the beginning of quite a few other problems to come within the next year or so.

I used to have that problem with my Soundcraft 200B all the time! Annoying as hell! As soon as I'd get the the problem channels fixed, another set of channels would go!

I got tired of not being able to depend on my console. So I no longer deal with used consoles in my studio.

But if you can keep-up with all the maintenance required of used consoles, they're a great way to go!
