I'm running a 20 bit Layla & a 20 bit Gina,I use PA9, My old mixer won't cut it any more. I need a new one. I'd like something with at least 8 to 10 in and outs. I can come up with about $600.00. What should I get.
Also my current hard drive is 17.5 gb. And I'm going to get a second 40 Gbon Monday, any suggestions on make and model? Any help would be great.

i'd look on ebay for a used mackie 1604.

i've got western digital hard drives (a 40gb i use for audio and a 20gb i use for programs) that work well. whatever you get, make sure you get a 7200rpm drive with as fast a seek time as possible.

Thanks for the input. It's always nice to get a starting point from someone whos been there.

if i were going to spend that money, i'd get a Soundcraft M8. maybe that's just me.

yeah, western digital makes good drives.

You might want to consider the Mackie 1642VLZ. It's a 16 channel mixer that I believe it is the cheapest one that Mackie makes that includes Direct Outs (8 of them). Dual headphone jacks, and a control room output. Sweet piece of equipment.

If I recall, I paid about $800 new. I'm sure you can get it for less used.

after intense research i'm going with the M12 by soundcraft.

M8 would suit you fine.

the soundcrafts supposedly sound better then the mackies but not by leaps and bounds
