If anyone can tell me the best configuration to connect these two devices together, I would appreciate it.

Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer (12 Inputs)
Boss BR864 Multitrack Digital Recorder (8 Tracks)

I'm using them in my home recording studio. I'm going to have two mics, two guitars, a bass, and a keyboard connected into the mixer. I would also like to know which device to hook my studio monitors into. Thank You.

stereo L/R of the mixer --> recorder stereo L/R (rca) in.

Recorder stereo L/R out --> channels 7/8 on mixer.

Mic --> input channel 1 of mixer.

First off, thank you for your quick response. but i do have a few more questions to help clear up some confusion. (i'm a beginner)

ok, see if i'm understanding this correctly. On the mixer, do i connect the main out L/R (1/4 in.) --> recorder RCA L/R input... in which case i would need like a 1/4/rca cord
Or use the mixer tape out (RCA) --> recorder RCA input?

not sure what this does? maybe you could elaborate a little.

Also, where is the best place to hook up the monitors?

Either is fine, the latter is probably more convienent.

This allows you to take the output of the recorder, back to your mixer, so you can play it through your amp and monitors. You'll have to slide the 7/8 faders all the way down to prevent feedback while recording, but you can listen to what is on the recorder through these two channels.

The mixer, to the stereo out jacks (if you hooked the recorder to the tape out jacks).

Oh, and you're more than welcome.

What's the diffrense between going from recorder to mixer via channels 7/8 and from recorder to mixer via tape in. what are some ups and downs for each way. thank you.

Tape in on your unit doesn't appear to have any EQ and such, at least from what I could tell from glimpsing at the manual online.

Channels 7/8 like the other input channels, gives you some tone control, maybe aux sends, etc.
