Mixer Advice

So I'm pretty new to this recording thing, and I wanted to get a few opinions because I'm looking for a mixer. Which mixer (w/ firewire or usb ability, nothing really more than 8 tracks) gets the best "bang for it's buck" for say.....$200-$300?

Any in particular you are looking at? I'll go out on a limb and say that any usb or firewire mixer in that price range will be of questionable quality. I could be wrong.

Any opinion on the Xenyx 1832fx? It looked pretty well-made, and all I've seen are good reviews about it. Runs about $370ish, I think!
