Mixdown to CD Question

Hi,

This is my first post. I have a DAW with Nuendo 1.61 installed. Previously, we tracked to a pair of ADAT XT with the sample rate set to 48K. I was able to dump these tracks to Nuendo and mix them with no problem. I then exported them to 2 tracks per the manual. The resulting 2 track mix plays fine in Nuendo, but when I burn to CD, it sounds like I was playing a 45 r.p.m. wax job at 33 r.p.m. I'm using Roxio EZ-CD creator as my burning software. Any suggestions?

Im assuming you mixed to one stereo track and dithered down to 16bit in a wav file format...correct ??
 
That is correct. I put the UV-22 as the final plugin in the main master chain. I mixed to a 16 bit wav file.
 
Did you use a Sample Rate Converter on the mix to get back to 44.1KHz sampling rate? If you try to burn a 48KHz stereo .wav file to a CD, well, since I have never actually tried that, I wouldn't know what the hell it does, but I have read about others trying to do this and they have had very bad sounding results!

Nuendo has an internal sample rate converter. During the mixdown to 2 tracks, it converts the files to the specified sample and bit rates.
 
Hmmmmmmm...I am wondering then if maybe you had the SRC happening, but elected to save the .wav file at the wrong sample rate. Have you check the properties of the .wav file? Is it indeed 16 bit 44.1KHz sample rate? If so, I am betting that somewhere in Nuendo you have some default that is causing this problem.

I checked on my mixdowns. They are indeed 44100 sample rate and 16 bit resolution. Interestingly enough, I ran a test. I did a mixdown without any effects plugins and one with the plugins. The mixdown WITHOUT the plugins worked perfectly when burned to an audio CD while the mixdown with the plugins sounded as previously stated. Strange, huh? Any suggestions??
 
For what ever reason, your resampling didn't go well. It's like it's playing the 48k file at 44.1 with no conversion.

It is strange. Could it be the plugins? I've read about latency issues especially with Nuendo's group tracks. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!
