Typing as I listen:

The drums are kind of boxy and dry. Not terrible though. Guitar tone is fine. The vocals sound uncompressed. At time they sound a little uneven. Good song

I think I remember this one form the Song writing forum and I like it then.

Great guitars - sound and playing - I'd just like to hear a bit more amp 'verb on the lead (taste not technical)

Drums sound full and balanced to me

My problem is the bass - the bass note on the guitar sort of pops up after the transient of the foot drum. Perhaps this is the effect your after, but I think a bit more compression on the bass might tighten it more and separate it from drum.

The feel of the piece moves a long in at a good pace and it feels a little like the bass is dragging (not the playing just the sound)

Not that I've listen to your stuff much in a while but your vocals sound the best I can remember - great performance and really well capture/mixed.

Song's coming along just fine, Gerry!
Love the vocal harmonies and the guitar licks. The snare sounds great, but Iit could use some more pop. Jason's drumming is superb as usual.

Joey :)

Thanks Sqibble - I'll refer to Jason for his thoughts on the drums. (I'm okay with them). The vocals on all my tunes are compressed on the downmix usually all the same amount. I agree the vocals are a little uneven. I also automated the volume as the range is low in the verses and needed a little boost for clarity. I'll review them...

Thanks Whatmysay...The bass is my nemesis - you'd never believe me if I told you how much time I spend on it....

Thanks Joey, I'll refer the drum sound to Jason. Again I'm pretty happy with them overall.

The drums definitely lack pop and depth. Kick and snare specifically. The playing is very good, but the kick is a little too fluffy without sufficient attack and the snare sounds kind of dark and flat. No pop. There's one snare fill in there that comes to life, but then it goes back into darkness. I suspect he hit it harder during that fill and woke the snare up and got some crack out of it. The toms sound great. The overheads seem compressed. I don't know if they are, but they have a sort of unnatural sizzle and ting on the ride cymbal that's usually the result of weird overhead compression. Again, that's just what it sounds like to me. The guitars sound cool and jangly. I don't have any problem with the bass gtr. It has a cool growl to it. It's just present enough to hold down the bottom without being overbearing. The vocals are good, but they're kind of sitting on top of the mix. Drop em down a hair and maybe pan the harmonies off the main vocal a little. Lead tone is very nice. Good job overall.

sounded a very good mix to me...clear, nice performance...maybe I little more on the drums, hard to say as Im no expert but they were a little boxy...

nice job overall...agreed with the comments on the vocals, great performance

Hmmm.... Sadly, I'd have to agree that the drums seem to lack a bit of spaciality. No idea why. I pulled up my DAW with the tracks, and the sound was pretty much the same. To me, the cymbals really shine on this one, though. I don't really know what happened to the snare / kick. They're not horrible, but something about them is making them seem like they're ... well.. as everyone has said, "boxy".

Hmmm..... Maybe I'll have to revisit this one.

After listening to this a couple more times through different speakers, I'm convinced it's the mix of the drums. The snare needs to be brought up a bit, and the kick needs a bit more defined through EQ. I'll see if I can't get that done for ya, Gerry.

I think this sounds good, the vox are a little boxy perhaps getting em a bit higher in the mix would be better, the vocals are really good preformancewise.
The playing is also very good and well recorded.:)

Gerry,
I'm just pleased to hear real drums - very cool playing PI. I hear what the gents mean about the snare & bass drum BUT I think the drum sound is right for the song - I wouldn't want it to be overproduced.
The bass has a cool growl but may need some a boost of 2 - 3 Dbs at 200 it seems to lack energy in the lower end.
It's an excellent song!

Nice stuff Gerry, I like the jangle in the rhythm guitars. I can sure hear the Clapton influence in your solos & fills. The drums work well for the song for me, the bass could use a bit more bottom, but if it's a Rick bass it sounds very full.
