Mix/master rock song, any ideas?

is it anywhere close to radio ready?

Nope, sorry, not radio ready. Way too crushed, it's clipping a lot. Vocals sound weird, I couldn't get 40 seconds into it. I had to turn it off.

If you're looking to get airtime, remember the radio stations are going to run it through their own limiters. So what you have now will get crushed even more. Go ahead and back off on the limiter and let the song breathe.

I'm no expert. jmho.

Yeah its freaking flatlining. Same droning volume constantly....
 
Its slammed! Too hash, too compressed, too limited. Back waaaaaaaaaay down on that limiter. The song is not bad, really.

Im just starting out with recording and i can tell that is way to compressed. Another thing i was thinking but i could be wrong: Bring your highs down some on the vocals and maybe on the guitar also?

But not a bad recording.... =]
 
thanks everyone for the input, I realize now that it was totally destroyed in the 'mastering' process....
what do you guys reccomend for getting a competitive volume level without squashing it? I've got the timeworks mastering plugins and the waves gold bundle. also Har-bal, and T-rax.
 
Post a link without any "mastering process" at all. Let's hear the mix.
