Hmm, interesting. But what if you don't use Alsihad*?

*Mixerman's word for ProTools.

There is 180mins of footage showing the mixer(Charles Dye) through out the total process of mix.If you have Pro tool it s easier to relate but what is really good is the overall concept of building a mix

Well, I got it and watched it.

It was good, but not great - the over-the-top-cheesey editing was a bit distracting. It was a bit too much of a plug-in ad. And, I would say most anyone with a intermediate level of recording skill will know 90% of what he talks about.

I did however, learn a few things, and probably would have learned more if I was a PT user.

Is it worth the money (like $119 I think)? I have grasped mixing procedures a bit but still consider myself a rookie. Do they go into depth about plug-ins and settings and truly show how they process each instrument (vocals, kick, snare, etc.)? If so then I would invest in it!!!

If I was a rookie, and a PT user, it is probably worth it. Especially considering it can be sold used for about $100. Probably worth it for a intermediate type person as well.

He does go into depth into each instrument, each group of instruments, and the "final touches". It is 3 hours of instruction for mixing one song.

My copy should be here on Thursday. I have heard several people rave about it and others say it isn't all that. As to editing style - I saw enough in the preview to see why some people find it hard to watch. I am in production - so I can why/how they did the video in that style.

Hoping that it will clear up a few myteries. Charles is a super cool individual - I think that he is letting you in on some good stuff. I have a friend who is a grammy nominated pro engineer - and he's pretty tight lipped about his techniques - primarily because I don't think he wants to explain everything he does - its exhausting. So I see it as sitting in on a session with a pro.

I will write more after I watch it.
