Nick,

Instrumental stuff is not be strength, but I can tell you what I hear.

Balance is nice all around.

The drums and midrange sit well from right to left.

The cymbals and drums seem significantly hotter than they should be? The only thing I really like at this volume is the ride cymbal. It sits really nice. I might compress them a bit more and or use a very little verb. The cymbal hits at the top spooked me a bit. As I listen the drums are sitting in better with more instrumentation.

If you have a nice room mic on the drums I would turn it up a bit more to meet the space of the guitars.....

I dig the song and I get the direction, i never got bored listening to it.

Good luck!

Cool.

Mix sounds pretty good to me...(a lot of good stuff in the clinic this morning!).

I love the part beginning around 1:20 particularly when the second guitar joins in around 1:33. Cool guitar @ 3:00...Uncle Phil is starting to sound pretty menacing there for a minute, and then it changes on a dime. Its like a whole new tune @ 3:20 - all light and funky. Then you have this whole slower, majestic thing going on towards the end...A whole lotta stuff going on in this one.

Sorry, I have no advice to give...just wanted to let you know I enjoyed it.

Thanks alot guys for the responses, I know theres alot of activity going on in the clinic today!

I really couldn't decide on the volume of the drums, and my issue was that if i turn down the higher crash hits, i lose the nice ride sound. And on my 20th listen I'm starting to not like the way the low end sounds.

I'll see what kind of compression settings might sound well on the drums. Thanks for the reviews fellas.

Also, I didn't have a room mic, although that might be something I start to do more often now.

Sounds great overall. My only nits are that the drums OH's seemed panned very narrow, yet the toms are panned way wide. Seems kinda odd. Also, the bass and kick are both just a tad muddy. Maybe add some depth to the guitar as well? Great job.

I like the cool panning after the funky breakdown thing. Kinda Pink Floydy.

Well thats just a good set of ears NL5, I didnt think anyone would notice the panning on the drums. It just seemed right while mixing this track, I might switch it back to a wider sound, I just really wanted to give the toms a big impact. I'm gonna have to work out the kick some how... I recorded it all wrong and so far I made what I could out of it, maybe some drumagog? I have alot of room to work with the bass, I miked it and DI-ed it so that can defintly be worked out.

Do you have any suggestions on how to add more to the guitar tracks? Besides the solos all the rythym and harmony tracks are dry.

Thanks for the review
