MoonMix Studios
Crew,

Does SONAR XL have a problem with eating MIDI files?

I had a project or two that contained numerous MIDI tracks; & wanted to archive just the MIDI data, so as to have it available for collaboration w/ one of our band members.

I moved the MIDI tracks to a new project file; & saved it as a *.mid file.

(This was about six months ago.)

Went to open those files today...& there's nothing there !
No MIDI tracks...no MIDI data...nothing.

Anybody have any idea what could have happened? Sure would like to know.

Thanks,

mark4man

You should've copied rather than moved them.
Did you try a file search?

I have never had this problem with SONAR, nor have I ever heard of anyone else having it.

Did you save it as a .rmi file?RIFF MIDI FORMAT
Did you actually open the files after saving them?

I just thought of another poossibility.
Could the clip have been slip edited in the moving process?
Look for any slivers in the track pane and see if you can drag them out.
Push the transport button and see if it registers an ending other than at "0" time.

acidrock,

Did you save it as a .rmi file? (RIFF MIDI FORMAT)
No...as a *.mid (GM-compatible Standard MIDI Format 1.)

Did you actually open the files after saving them?
Yes...& the file was OK.

There is no MIDI Track (in the Track Pane); & no MIDI data (in the Track Window.) Nothing.

Thanks,
