Hi All: Have you ever put something in the shop and missed the heck out of it???
I have been using an altec lansing 1592A mixer as the preamp on the vocal/harp mic. Early last summer it started cracking and popping. It is a vintage piece and the capacitors were failing. I sent it in to the #1 guy for repairing vintage altec gear. He has had it ever since. He assures me it is getting totally rebuilt to new condition, which is sure nice, but I was missing it real bad. So I started searching for one till my baby comes home. I met up with this eccentric character who has a warehouse full of old recording gear. He sold me one and I have been messing with it for the past week or so and tonight I feel like I got it dialed almost alway the way in. I can't wait to get to get my original one back. That will give me 3 channels of solid mics and preamps. Anyway I feel good!!! Walter
