so I'm feeling real good about my first mix with my new monitors...using gnr's illusion as a reference, and it seems to be holding up well, except in the instance of my vocal, which for some reason is coming out clear but a little harsh... my main problem is "shhhhhh" sounds.... i've fixed some issues with a deesser which has gotten the trick done with the obvious.. i did use a less then stellar mic, but i've been using it for a while and i generally tend to get good sounds... once i rectify this problem i'm going to post it in the mp3 clinic, no point wasting time and mixing it till i solve this last problem... anyone have any ideas?

i don't think a pop filter will help, but +1 for technique.

what kind of mic is it? I jump straight to SM7b if someone sounds ess-y.

You might try different positions within your environment, or a different room if it sounds like it's an ambience problem.

I guess you could try singing a little of axis too? you might get lucky singing 'past' the mic.

well.... its a shitty radio shack mic.... (fire away !!!!) but it serves its purpose through a shit ton of post processing... i think i rectified the problem cutting somewhere around 3k.... Pigfucker is posted away over in the mp3 spot now... think its a lil better

cool..
Whatever works...i've no time for snobbery ;)

i've just shut everything down; I'm on the laptop now, so i'll have a wee listen in the morning.
