Bliss,

I would go CDR. Minidisc is a good choice, soundwise, IF you DON'T have a computer. Since you already have a computer, CD's are the better bet for the money. With a computer, your masters could be burned to CD without signal loss.

Also, more people have CD players than minidisc players. So you could give your friends CD copies without compatibility worries.

Finally, If you want to sell your music and you cannot afford to press CD's commercially, you could burn 50 CD's in the convenience of your own house and sell them to make enough to press CD's commercially.

Personally, I have both. But I got the CD recorder first, and I only use the minidisc as a portable recorder to collect samples or do live 2-track recordings. Get the CDR first... my two cents.

simple question: Even though they are about the same in price, which would be better.
I have a computer, have a whole bunch of tracks, I save them on DAT but most people ask me for copies to listen too, so would it be wise to get a MINIDISC or CDR(external)

I think CDR, but some people are selling MD's for like $125, I got an offer for tomorrow
any suggestions, thanks yall

CD-RW adds a lot of convenience. Great for archiving song data and you can give your friends an audio CD to listen to. Media is cheap as well.

Why external?

because my computer already has a CD-rom built in, also a zip drive, so I dont think I could install a CD-Recorder inside ya know

but I do have the digital optical cable on my computer so that should be sufficient

Rev E ,

Good lookin' on that, thanks for the insight
so CDR I'm going for, I recently came across
a Harmon/Krantz double CDRW for $599 I looked at duke like (you crazy right), seemed cool
but I'll stick with the CDR-burner,
now I'm just trying to figure out Internal or External (internal I dont know how to install cause I have a cd rom already) they say it's easy, guess I'll figure it out soon enough, once again thanks for your two cents

Assuming you have 1 hard disk, you will have 1 open connector on one of the ribbons to install an internal CD-RW on.

They are generally easy to install. I usually put them on the secondary IDE channel as the secondary master, with the CD-ROM on the same ribbon jumpered as slave.

Your Zip and hard drive can go on the primary IDE channel, hard drive master, zip jumpered as slave.

You make it sound all so simple, I'll take it in consideration what you just said, and when I get to it, I'll come back and sort out what I CAN UNDERSTAND, from what you said,

thanks for you two cents also buddy,
(I'm gonna have a whole 5 cents soon) ha ha

I have both. I really like the editing features on the minidisc. You can move tracks around, edit start and stops (remove clicks and countoff's)They store neatly, and you can add to a disk at any time.

CD's are less costly, and I give them away to clients with a rough mix.

I think the minidisc is cool, but not too many people can play them on their system.

Do the majority of people asking you for copies to listen to have a cd player or minidisc? This should guide you in selecting your format of choice...Another thing to keep in mind about cd's... They don't use that "lossy" compression scheme either. Happy recording!

yeah that's what I said, many people dont have minidiscs so they cant listen to my music. I've narrowed it down to the
YAMAHA CD-RW CRW6416SZ -- $299.00, not a bad price, and the saleman said to install is very simple "Open it up, take the other one out, put the other one in" you'll become tech person in no time, he said" --- smart ass

anyway off the subject has anyone seen
"Final Destination" a very good damn movie
I love horror flicks and this one delivers
"TAKE A CHICK, SHE'LL CLUTCH YA THIGH ALL NIGHT"
