This isn't much a problem because I don't do this often, but sometimes I run my MiniDisc (it's uh, a Sony walkman, I forget the model now, but it's a piece of shit in my opinion) through my board (Audiopro 16-S) and it makes it sound really crappy. Like bassy, etc. I've run it through my other board, a Behringer 802a and it's basically the same.

I'm guessing it has something to do with how the MiniDisc compresses stuff or whatever, but what are your views on it? By the way, I just a mini jack from the line out to the line in on a channel on the board.

Yo Crash Corrigan:{I'll bet not too many out there remember him.}

Crappy in = crappy out, even with tweaking.

Minidisc can produce decent stuff. I've used the MD8 and it still rests in my studio and have done some nice stuff with it. But, it has its limits, like headroom.

So, if you are using a junky unit to record, you can't expect to run it and get A+ stuff.

Green Hornet:D :p :p :cool:

If the mini disk player has a "Bass Boost" of some sort on it, turn that off.

Also, does the mini disk player have a "Line Out", or are you using the headphone output? If you are using the headphone output, well, you have to be VERY careful with the volume levels and what not.

I am betting a beverage of your choice though that you have some type of bass boost on the mini disk player that you can turn off and all will be well.

Oh yeah, I think the bass boost is on. I normally have it off. I believe I'm running from the line out, I'm pretty sure it's not the headphone jack (ah I'm so forgetful!)
