I just got a sony MD-R70 and it didn't have a pclink converter to connect to my computer through the USB port. Where can I get one? Sony.com doesn't seem to sell them separately and neither does Best Buy or some such place. Ideas? What I want to do is record my band at a gig and then transfer it to my computer to burn cds.

Besides the link/usb cable what else should I be looking for?

drobins,

Any success? I am looking to so basically the same thing. Did you pull it off and if so how? What cables, software etc did you use?

MD recording

I haven't worked at it too hard, although I'm not happy with my MD recorder. The laser link is an input. I did buy a copy of Cakewalk 9 because the bassist in my band is using it with his four track cassette recorder and cd burner with some excellent results. I've got to watch him work with it. Then I'll maybe figure it out. I'll try working it out this week.

PCLINK

Well, I think I posted a reply in the wrong thread . . .

The PCLink device will not allow you to transfer files from your minidisk to your PC. It is a simple, playback only, external sound card that connects to a USB port on your computer.

It is only useful if your computer does not have a sound card. If you have a sound card, just go from line out on your minidisk to line in on your sound card.

IMHO: Quality will be adequate for voice and even music for friends and neighbors. Will not be adequate for music CD that you intend to distribute.
