I put this stuff up here and wait for comments, wait for what people notice first. If something *doesn't* get noticed, that's significant too. What I was wondering about (and nobody commented, so that's good) was how the bass and the beat came across. My monitors are good down to about 70 cycles, but I play bass down to 55 cycles sometimes, so there are 15 cycles of guessing when I mix bass.
Second thing: that's drstawl on synth at the end, not me of course. If the synth part doesn't work for you, then my advice is to listen to the song another 7 times. When he fired it off to me earlier this year, I listened to it and thought: 'Yup, that'll do very sweetly indeed.' But when I mixed the song earlier this week, I actually listened way more carefully to that synth part, and it's a piece of magic. It's like JS Bach soaked up a bit of the twentieth century and sat in on the session. The only downside is that my music's kinda primitive right now, and I didn't figure a way to calm down that busy guitar and just let the synth have its say.
