Any experience with this one? I've got an se2200a. Even though I like the sound of it, it seems way too noisy for me and my preamps are too good for a cheap chinese-made LDC. I don't have any experience with tube LDCs; what is the difference? I assume they have a warmer sound with less sibilance?
 
Good thing I came across this before I pulled the trigger on this (Se2200a) microphone! Now is it really noisey Drain? Tell me more about what you have going on in the middle of Norway.
 
First of all, it's funny how everyone seems to read DrainBamage instead of DainBramage ;)

As I have never tried a different LDC I can't really say it's very noisy compared to others. It could be something in my environment but I've tried literally shutting the whole house down, including my laptop. As I live in the middle of nowhere I can't really see what else it could be, maybe some strange ghostlike cow/sheep hissing behind my back, I don't know. I mean what could possibly cause hissing noise:

I dunno but I figure it has to be the se2200a but I would have to get hold of another mic to really know.
 
I have only used the SE2200 once. It belonged to a friend. A lot of people love them, but it didn't float my boat. I don't think the mic itself is noisy, (don't know for sure). But it does pick up a lot of the room, which could be confused with mic self-noise.

Yes exactly! With 2012 coming in quick we have roughly a year to go before the beginning of the end.

There's a screaming great review of the CV4 in Tape Op. But I've never seen one. Still, the review has me interested as I've been researching tube miss. I'd also love to know if anyone here has experience with the mic.
