I just hooked up the midi out of my Fostex FD8 multitracker to the midi in of the sr16. Now every time I hit play on the fostex it triggers my drum program and everything is great...But, do I eventually have to record the drum program to an actual track, or can I save a track(or two)and have the midi hookup trigger the proram while I mix down? It sounds like the thing to do, but I am monitoring the drum program through a track on the Fostex that will eventually be used for something else,so how can this work? Is there a way to record the actual midi code? Does it go on a track? And even if it did, it seems that I would still need to keep a track open for the drums to get into the mixdown, so why bother with the midi hookup at all?!? Please excuse my ignorance with all this, and any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm just trying to understand midi, and find which,if any, application is right for me. Oh, and I own the Alesis nanocompressor and am about ready to use it as a coaster, so anyone have any favorite compressors? Heard about this Prosonus Blue Max Comp?
All opinions welcome.
K.
