OK when I say not working I mean that I can't hear the .wav file. Here's what I have done
I open up a midi track, then add an audio track to this I then record the midi to the audio track, then export by using the audio mixdown to a .wav file. But when I play the .wav file I cant hear anything. Am I going about this the correct way?

What are you using to synthesize the audio from the midi track?
(What do you have it pointed to? An external synth? An SBLive card? A VSTi?)

If you use export audio mixdown it will simply create a wav file, (or a wave file and a new audio track). It sounds like its not creating the audio track, sooooo you will have to open the pool Ctrl-P and add the wave file to your audio track you created.

Just curious .. what did you use for your [Record Format] & [Sample Rate] located in the Project Setup Menu?

Also, what soundcard are you using? Is your soundcard set at 44 or 48? I like using 32 bit float for my sample rate.

So my point is, possibly there's a mis-match between your Project Setup rates and what your soundcard is set at or capable of.

Sometimes this stuff is a pain in the ass ...
