midi to audio out of sync

I have noticed when recording midi to audio that as the sond progresses they gradually get out of sync with each other - ie the recorded audio is perfectly in time with the original midi track at the beginning, but by the end of the song there is a noticeable delay and the recorded track is therefore out of step with the rest of the song. Any idea what could be causing this? - currently I am resolving the problem by just recording in small bursts and cobbling them together but obviously it would be easier if I could do the whole track in one go. I am using CWPA8. Cheers - Malgo.

It depends. You may not have enough memory on your computer. Also you may not have a fast enough procesor. Usually when you computer does not have enough processing speed you will experiance latency. However if you are slaving Cakewalk to an external digital audio work station (VS-880, Tascam DA-38 Etc.) you are experiance time clock latency. Cake-walk is not reading the time clock from the device good. You need a new cable (Monster MIDI cable). Hope this helps.
