Midi syncing question: connecting Reason, Electribe ES-X and Kaoss Pad3

I have Reason 5, KP3 and an Electribe ES-X and I would like to connect the three so they stay in sync.

I know the electribe has the ability to send midi clock signals and that the Kaoss Pad and Reason can both receive said signals. The question is what do I need equipment-wise to connect them?

My initial thoughts were either one of these:

Cakewalk UM-2G USB MIDI Interface :: Overview
with midi cables running from and to the Kaoss Pad and the Electribe.

OR

one of these:
E-MU Systems - Xmidi 1x1 - USB MIDI Interface
And connecting the Kaoss Pad to the interface and a thru cable between the Kaoss Pad and the Electribe. But the first solution seems the better choice.

I have never dealt with MIDI before and I've tried searching, googling and read the info on Tweakheadz site, but I´m still not certain that either of these choices are correct.

Many thanks for any answers or thoughts you may have!

Welcome to HR, EuroHobbes.

Start by reading the manuals that came with your products. All of them.

Then register your products and join support forums for each.

Then, when you have exhausted the resources already available to you, come back and ask how to sync your gear.

If anyone ever stumbles upon this thread searching/googling for the same (or similar) answer:

two things:

- The KP3 doesn't have Midi thru, MIDI Solutions manufacture Midi Thru interfaces. Connect the Midi Out from electribe to the thru-box and then from the thru-box to the Midi Ins from your PC and KP3.

- LEAVE this place after you've written down the above information. Apparently if you are not born all-knowing you have no business here. Even though this is a newbie section, even though you've done earlier research and even though you've tried to elaborate your question as much as possible, you do not belong here.

This thread will now be made available for the omnnipotent to bewail the existence of the unknowing.

Get an MAudio MIDIsport 4x4. The drivers are solid and daisy-chaining MIDI devices isn't the best method. You never know when those spare MIDI ports might come in handy.

Use MIDI-OX and MIDI Yoke to configure different MIDI setups. Using MIDI-OX you can virtually route any hardware input to any hardware output, and with MIDIYoke you can route both hardware and virtual MIDI ports directly to applications.
