Hi Folks-

I'm using a Yamaha AW16G for my audio, synced through a MIDISPORT 2x2 to my Mac G4 running OSX 10.3.5.

Since I din't use my computer for audio, I'm looking for a basic sequencer for the computer. When I was running OS 9.2 I used Metro, and I loved it. It did exactly what I needed. Now that I'm in OSX, what basic sequencer (with no audio) can I get? I don't want to spend hundreds for features I don't need!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Mike

I use an AW16G too and I've found the midi recording and editing features of Tracktion to be just the ticket. You can now download a 2 week fully-functioning demo here:

If you like it as much as I do it's only $80 to buy your own copy. And you don't ever have to use the audio recording functions!

THANKS ssscientist, for the reply. i just downloaded the demo, and i'm going to check it out tonight and tomorrow.

I just started messing with this sequencer...I can't seem to find a way to import my old midi files...before I stopped using Metro, I exported all my files to SMFs, and Tracktion doesn't want to accept them for import. Hmmmmm...

Well, thanks again for the effort, unless you have a solution?

Did you try File > Open as well as Import?

Yes, Al, and thanks for the suggestion. In fact, I also tried opening the original Metro files (BOTH ways) as well as the SMFs that I created. I'm stumped.

To add to the puzzle (for me): As an experiment, I downloaded some SMF files off the net. The app WILL open SOME of them. I gotta figure this out.

Thanks!

Mike
