Sorry I didn't post this in the MIDI section, but it is so slow in there and figured I had a better chance of a response here.

I just got a MIDI interface and have not really used MIDI before. Although I am doing reading/research to see how it all works, I do have one quick question...

On Korg.com they offer an entire new sound set for one of the Korg synths I have. You can download the file and then you are to be able to use these sounds.

The website says that the file I am downloading is MIDI exclusive system data stored within a standard MIDI file sequence.

Now my question is...

Once I have downloaded and extracted this file, how do I send it from the computer to the synth?? I have tried opening it in my Cakewalk Home Studio program but do not see any way of sending out the info to the synth.

(Yes, I do have a MIDI computer interface BTW).

Thanks for any assistance.

YOu will use software on the PC to send the SysEx into to the synth unit. Examples like SendEX can send/receive MIDI SysEx data to/from MIDI gear.

Ed,

Thanks for the response...that is exactly what I had thought-that my software would do that, but where in my software would I find that command? My software uses MIDI functions, but I don't see any menu that has that listed on my software.

Thanks,

Micro
