midi problems

i wanted to know why cant i put drumkits thats with my yamaha djx in to my computer software as midi. it only will let meput the instruments in my compuer and i know everything is connected so i cant figure it out

To your question in the first sentence, the answer is because MIDI is performance data, not audio data. Notes, volumes, duration -- but no sound. Sort of like a computerized player piano. As to the statement in your second sentence, it makes no sense, for the same reason -- the MIDI data has no soundf information in it, so you can't "put the instruments in [your]compuer."
