hi guys!i've got a problem, i am using a usb midi controller, and on the ASIO FULL DELUX MULTIMEDIA DRIVERS, SBLIVE SOUNDCARD problems are :

1) when i use SB soundbank, there's no latency, but when i use vst ins' there's a little bit latency.

2) and when i rec midi at the realtime, monitor is ok, but when play back, there's faster than i recorded, that's mean the signal is faster than the sound, y?

I thought SBLive didn't support ASIO?

Anyhow, you'll get zero-latency from the SBLive sounds, and whatever your stated latency is for your VSTis. So if you adjust for latency, it will move the SB sounds up, even though they were on time, and make them sound early. If you don't, then your VSTi latency will make your VSTis sound late.

Unless you can adjust this offset option per channel (5.1 won't, dunno about SX), you're stuck needing to shift one track or the other.

Possible solution - flip the switch to use offset, record your VSTi as audio to another track, then switch back to no-offset - everything should line up.

Good luck,

Daf

oh?!~ but there's strange coz my frd use sb audigy, no problems, the different between us is he uses midi port keyboard and i use usb keyboard, is it the problem relate to the keyboard?

I understood that some Audigy cards had ASIO support, but SBLive didn't.

I don't think USB matters. It's just that it takes your computer a few milliseconds to generate those VSTi sounds, but it doesn't take any (significant) time to produce the SB built-in sounds. So the one will always be ahead of the other. Use the offset, SBLive will be early and VSTi will be on time. Don't use the offset, SBLive will be on time and VSTi will be late.

The faster your machine/ lower the ASIO latency, the less noticeable this difference will be.

sorry 4 my annoying~!
but i try it's ok in the pass, problems suddently come out now, the main problems is i can rec midi on realtime...do u think it's becoz of the metronome drivers ?

What was different before? Soundcard? Driver? PC? Recording software?

And what is a metronome driver???

no change from b4 till now, but i found that it's ok in cakewalk, only on cubase got this problems...

Well, I don't know cakewalk. If it handles latency offset differently from cubase, that's probably your answer.

ANYHOW, I gave you the solution above.

i want to ask that is there many user have to use the offset to do so?

I use the offset when I use VSTis. My sound card (Delta 66) doesn't have onboard sounds, so ALL my midi tracks are for VSTis, and therefore have latency.

So yes I use the offset, but I don't have a mismatch between timings to deal with.

sign....i have no idea, i use cakewalk, reason, there's no problem.......

Well Cakewalk doesn't support virtual instruments, unless you mean Sonar. And Reason is ALL virtual instruments. So this may be your first occasion to mix the two.
