I just got the Tascam US-122 and have been using it with Sonar 3. I am able to record audio without problemsx but recently I have tried to work some more with midi. I have all the correct settings on in Sonar (US-122 is selected as midi output and input) and I can tell that the US-122 is receiving the midi data from Sonar because the midi out light is on whenever I play a midi file in sonar. I am not, however, able to hear the midi through the headphone or line out jacks. Am I doing something wrong? I can get the midi to play back through the computer's onboard soundcard fine, but when I change the settings to use the Tascam US-122, I am unable to hear the midi playback. I do not have anything plugged into the midi in or midi out jacks of the US-122, so maybe I am stupid and I need to do that, but I figured I should be able to hear the sound still through the headphone jack without anything plugged intto the midi input and output on the US-122
Any suggestions?
Thanks
-Mike

do you have a keyboard or sound canvas connect to the us-122?

here's how i have my us-428 setup:

fatar sl-880 midi controller keyboard connected to the midi in port.
ensoniq/emu asr-x pro drum machine connected to the midi out port.

the midi keyboard allows me to record midi into the laptop via the us-428.

the drum machine allows me to hear the midi i've recorded into the laptop via the us-428.

but you won't hear anything out of the us-122 headphones unless you connect the analog output of your keyboard/sound canvas to the analog input of the us-428.

once i've gotten the midi recorded just the way i want (making whatever tweaks and fixes). i then record it as audio.
