I am just about ready to pull my hair out. Everything I’ver read about setting up MOL is that it is very simple. I have spent hours on getting my two machines to cooperate, and still no success.
The Forum at the MusicLab site is pretty useless, and I know there are a couple of users here, so I’m asking here in hopes of someone shedding light.
I have two computers in the studio. One is set up exclusively for Gigastudio and the other runs Cubase VST 5.1 and some VSTi’s. The Gigastudio computer is an AMD 1500, 768 ram, Win2K. The Cubase computer is a P4 1.8 1 gig ram, Win2K. Both computers are members of the same workgroup on a Peer to Peer setup using a Crossover cable. (There is no hub, although I suppose I could try that.)
After installing MOL on the Gigastudio computer, the greyed out receive box turns to dark red in the “Lan in” area, and the test button is active in the “Lan to” area. When I install the driver on the Cubase computer, both areas remain inactive. This would indicate to me that the problem exists on the Cubase computer.
Now, when I browse my Network Places on either machine, I am able to see all files and folders and transfer data at will. That being said, it appears that the problem is exclusive to MOL on the Cubase computer.
I am totally perplexed because this setup is supposed to be a snap to get going. I would appreciate any suggestions.
I have two other computers in the house that I am going to try installing MOL onto later today to see what success I have with them. They are both running WinXP.
