MIDI out from iMac

Can I send MIDI info out from my iMac 266, OS 9.1, 256 megs of RAM?

From the USB? or is it too slow?

I want to run it into a MIDI keyboard.

I know precious little about MIDI.

Do I need a device such as a soundcard?

If so what are the recommended choices.

This is a lot of questions on one post.

You need an external midi interface. There are USB ones. I dont use Macs or external interfaces so I cant really recomend one. The bandwidth needed for midi is pretty low so USB should not be a serious problem unless you start trying to record audio through it at the same time.
