MIDI, NI and Sonar problems

Okay, so I've managed to record MIDI from my Roland EM-10 to my computer, which is awesome. But it seems like I can only use the sounds that are in my keyboard banks. Is there any way for me to use the soft synth samples of Absynth or any NI plug-in for that matter? I'm able to use my keyboard to control NI Pro-53 in it's stand-alone version...but not in Sonar. And I'm not able to control Absynth with my keyboard at all. What am I doing wrong??

hi,

for that you first need low latency in your audio setup: <20ms (Option -> audio )

second click on the dxi button and insert your NI soft synth

third on a midi track select the output: not your midi interface but your NI dxi.
