i have an old yamaha tmx sound module for edrums which works although i would more sounds for it, if i have sounds i like to use on my computer and i get some kind of midi interface for my computer could i record the drums into a program like fruity loops and use the sound samples from that in some form or another? or would i need another program, or can i do it at all?thanks

I don't know about fruity loops, but if you have access to a virtual sampler or drum machine you can assign your favourite drum samples to the MIDI notes produced by the triggers and have them play instead of the sounds from the Yamaha.

Good luck!

ok thanks, got any software suggestions (esceciallly one that can handle sf2)

Don't know what sf2 is.

There's free virtual drum machines like those released by Computer Music (magazine), or there's Native Instruments Battery which is the shizzle.

I'm sure there's others out there. I haven't started using software samplers just yet......waiting to upgrade my software after I have bounced all my VST-effected tracks as audio so I can move to OSX (which doesn't have VST compatibility......grumble grumble)

SoundFontTwo. It's a sample playback format.

Here is a LINK to KVR Audio, the clearinghouse for all things plugin. Take a little time to learn how to search for free plugins and your efforts will be well rewarded.

Sweeeeet :)

I haven't yet made the giant leap into OSX and audio units (will be lamenting the loss of VST within Logic and all those plugs I own)
