I downloaded a MIDI file of Amazing Grace. I open it in Sonar, tweak it a bit, remove the guitar parts, etc, etc. I use a MIDI interface cable (joystick port), and run it into my Yamaha W7 synth/sequencer for playback. The problem is, every downbeat is just a bit late, even though the event editor tells me that all the notes are falling right on time. This happens when I playback thru my soundcard's FM synth, too. Thinking I might be having a polyphony issue, I ran a CAL program that removes duplicate notes, and it removed 32 instances. I've also quantized each track, as well as the whole thing, and I can't get rid of this hesitation. There's just no drive there at all. I slowed the tempo down from 68bpm to 30 bpm, and played back with the metronome on, and I can hear these notes not hitting with the metronome, yet when I try to move them, they either go too far back or to far up. Is there something I can do concerning the grid spacing? Does this sound like something I can fix in Sonar, or maybe the problem is in my keyboard? Thanks to anyone who may be able to help me out, here.
