well..im doing midi drums in sonar XL

im just clicking the beets in with my mouse. Anyways...to get to the point

some of the drums sound...well not real..

is there a way to get different sounding midi drums?

Sure is.

All you're clicking in in SONAR are MIDI Note On messages. These can be sent to any MIDI-compatible device -- through an external interface to a drum machine or keyboard or MIDI module, or a softsynth on the computer, or to your sound card's on-board ssynth chip (if you have one).

is there anything i can download?

i really dont want to be some new hardware

...

like say...download a file that has a bunch of new drums sounds in it?

SONAR comes with several DXi software synths; one is strictly a drum machine, if I recall. There should be all kinds of sounds you can get out of that. There's also the Livesynth, which will play SOund Fonts, and there a a jillion free SOund Font-format drumkits on the web. See http://www.hammersound.net/

It takes more than REALISTIC SOUND to make it "REAL". You need to learn the trick on sequencing the drums part. I lived happy ever with soundfonts & DXi, even thought I got several external synths also :))

If you use Cakewalk (SONAR, HS, whatever...)Go to Cakewalk forum and search for MIDI work drum thingee. :)
