Midi drum controller

Hi to all. I want to purchase a midi drum controller with which I will be controlling Battery Vst in my sequencer. I have heard about AKAI MPD 16 but also heard that its great for hip-hop and rap. my genre is pop, rock & world. Is there any other drum controller you refer for me? I want to create nice fillers with realastic beats. is there any controller that can be played by sticks?
