I am using Reason via rewire to Sonar. When I use Reason alone, and play the digital sampler Piano, my midi controller's sustain pedal acts as a sustain pedal...kinda useful for playing piano. When I use reason rewired to Sonar, but have the midi controller associated with Reason, it works like this too.
BUT, for many obvious reasons, I need to have the MIDI controller associated with Sonar so that I can play other DXi's, and use it as a control surface. So, when I hook it up to control the digital sampler in Reason to play the piano from Sonar, the sustain pedal mutes the sampler, and I hear nothing at all from the MIDI channel associated with the sampler. I have looked at the 'mixer' in Reason to see if the 'mute' button lights up, but it doesn't. I have recorded a MIDI track of the sampler, pressed the sustain pedal and then viewed the 'events' list, but the pedal isn't sending any MIDI message that I can see (the keystrokes are showing up).
It is an Evolution MK249C if it matters.
Anyone with an idea? Playing the piano without sustain sucks!
