Midi Controller power supplies?

it seems that the midi controllers i've bought (Radium 61 and Evolution MK461c) do not come with power supplies. I was just wondering if there was a good spot that I could get power supplies for a good price. I know that these two boards can be powered via USB, but that's not what I want to do. I've noticed a certain amount of latency with a keystation 49e usb'd into reason w/o a power supply, and I would like to not have to deal with that if possible. Does midi transmit data faster than USB by any chance? I'm not too knowledgable about midi/usb stuff. Thanks!

I use a very similar setup -- an Oxygen 8 powered by USB and have no latency issues at all w/Reason. I have mine set up to use the ASIO drivers - try downloading the latest Keystation drivers from the website and see if that doesn't solve the problem.

As far as external power supplies go, Radio Shack is an excellent and reliable source. I'll bet if you examine the small jacks where the power supplies go you will find a notation like '9v' and then a small circle with an arrow pointing to either the ring or the tip and a '+' sign. This means that the unit needs a 9 volt power supply and the arrow will tell you whether it needs tip or ring positive. For about $15 you can get a 9v power supply that has interchangable plugs --- this is probably the one you'll be a-wanting because you can switch the plugs until you find one that fits the jack and switch it for +/- as well...

It definitely sounds like the latency is within your system (Not from your controller). Make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card. Additionally, if you go to Radioshack and buy a power supply (Not the universal one, but a voltage/milliamp specific one), they include 1 free adaptor end for it, and they will match up the specific one for you, and it is usually about $5 dollars cheaper (However the Universal P/S I have from Radioshack did include the right adaptor for use on Radium 61/Oxygen 8's, and universal P/S's are great to have around in the event that another P/S fails). Very Handy Indeed!!!

As a note:Both my Radium 61's and my Oxygen 8 included an external Power Supplies. I'd check into why you didn't get one with yours (Possibly a friendly e-mail to M-Audio is in order, or check with who you purchased the Radium from).
