Midi controller connections

OK - dumb newbie question.

If I have two midi controllers and a firewire audio interface, will I connect them directly to the computer via USB or via the interface.

it depends on the software you're running, and the controllers/equipment you're using.

Most universally stable solution is to go through the interface.
