midi controller and MS2000R problem

I recently bought a MS2000R and I love the thing. However, when I have it connected to my Evolution MK-461C midi controller, things get a little annoying. Basically, sometimes when I'm playing a sustained chord on the keyboard, the sound cuts off as if though I have stopped holding down the chord even though I still have the keys pressed down (some times the same thing happens when I'm just playing individual notes - they don't hold for vey long). Once in a while, the keys don't trigger any sound.

Now, I only have the midi controller connected to the MS2000R through a Hosa MIDI cable. Nothing's connected to a computer. Right now, I'm trying to figure out whether or not it's the cable that's being crappy or if it's the controller. Now, when I've run my controller with Absynth 2.0 on my PC, I don't face the same problems. Any suggestions would be great.

Polophony may be the problem...

you're running into. Unless they've updated the MS2000R since mine was made they're 4 voice instuments, and it sounds to me like you're trying to get more that 4 notes @ a time.

no, it's not the polyphony that causing it. say that I play only one key. sometimes it sustains until i let go and sometimes it cuts out on it's own while i'm stil holding it down. crazy.

Then I'm stumped too.

You could download a little handy program called "MIDI-OX" from Shareware Music Machine or Harmony Central -- it's a little nifty program that lets you see exactly what that Evolution controller is transmitting so you can eliminate one variable from the equation.
