Midi controller advice

Hi everyone.

I'm new to home recording and I am wanting to buy a keyboard midi controller. I have found 2 that are within my budget and was wanting to get advice on which one to get. I have read up on both of them and both have advantages but i was wanting to get an outside opinion.

So I've narrowed it down to the M-Audio Oxygen 49 or the Behringer UMX490.

Any advice? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Out of the two, without a doubt I'd go for the M-Audio, but I have a personal vendetta against Behringer, I've yet to be impressed by them, but have always found M-Audio to be quite good, Feel free to blaze

Personal vendettas and biases make for lousy advice unfortunately. I would love to blast Fiat cars based on experience of two of them, but alot of people love them and have had good experiences. That's how I am with Behringer products. I understand why people hate them {they are not liars} but it's hard to not get a little cruffy when the Behringer bashing hits the airwaves again and again. I've had nowt but good experiences with my preamp, mixer, wah~wah pedal and headphones.

As far as MIDI keyboard controllers go, to be honest, they seem much of a muchness. The first one I had {which I regret selling} was alot easier to figure than my present one but they essentially do the same thing. All I would add is make sure you have at least 49 keys.

I'm a big Behringer fan; I haven't had any problems with any of the gear I've bought over the last 12 or so years.

Obviously, I wouldn't have any prejudice against a Behringer keyboard.

However, I use Pro Tools, so the sliders and knobs on the Oxygen 49 were appealing to me. And that's what I had Santa bring me.

I haven't used the O49 much, but so far I'm more than pleased with it...

I had an M audio Axiom and it was very good, I had an M audio Radium and it was a piece of crap...I imagine the Oxygen falls somewhere inbetween these two.. I also had an Edirol PCR it was excellent...Ive never had a behringer keyboard..

i love my two behri mixers and vamp pro though, but they have no keys..Ill check again...yup no keys whatsoever
