Hello every1, my question is, for connecting 2 midi controllers (keyboard & drum machine) simultaneously what do u all recommend? I have a laptop with win xp and about 512 ram. The only soundcard ive seen with 2x2 connection is "frontier design dakota 24-bit soundcard) & USB connectors like "Midiman Midisport 2x2". I also want 2 be able to record the external keyboard sounds and external drum machine sounds probably using Acid Pro 4.

Sounds like a merger might do the trick.

2 ins, 1 out.

As long as your drums are on channel 10 and your keyboard is on channel 1 (or any other two different channels, but those should be the default), you'll be fine.

Unless you try to send too much event data at one time, but I'm going to guess that won't happen.

As for recording the sounds, you'll need to either use standard audio output from the devices into the audio input of your card.

Some more modern toys have S/PDIF or TOSlink optical digial outs and ins. That would be the way to go if your gear has that capability.
